What About Areas Disproportionately Impacted By The War On Drugs?

Mayor Stephen DiNatale was among a group of local leaders who signed a letter urging Gov. Charlie Baker and the state’s Reopening Advisory Board to allow marijuana retailers to open on Monday.

Eight cities and towns have now signed the final draft of a letter after Salem’s mayor, Kim Driscoll, called for marijuana establishments to be treated like restaurants and liquor stores.

As of Wednesday, the municipalities signing onto the letter include Amesbury, Greenfield, Lowell, Lynn, Marlboro, Newton, and Northampton.

The letter urges the governor to give the adult-use marijuana industry the opportunity to return to the fold and to contribute much needed revenue to municipalities in the state.
