By the end of the week, there could be five retail marijuana stores open in Massachusetts, including the first in the southeast part of the state.

The Cannabis Control Commission on Monday issued notices authorizing Verilife of Wareham and INSA Inc. of Easthampton to begin selling recreational marijuana to adults 21 or older. Sales can begin as early as Friday.

Verilife, operated by Pharmacannis Massachusetts Inc. at 112 Main St. in Wareham, already operates a medical dispensary and plans to add recreational sales. It obtained its provisional retail license from the commission on Aug. 9 and was inspected on Oct. 9.

Verilife and INSA will become the fourth and fifth recreational marijuana stores to open since Massachusetts voters legalized the recreational use of cannabis in 2016. Stores in Leicester and Northampton opened Nov. 20 and a third shop opened in Salem on Saturday.
