A moratorium on the sale and distribution of recreational marijuana and the annual town budget were the biggest items presented, and both passed fairly quietly.
Passage of the marijuana moratorium allows the town until Dec. 31 to establish a zoning bylaw regulating the placement of adult marijuana establishments. An establishment is defined as a “marijuana cultivator, craft marijuana cooperative, marijuana product manufacturer, marijuana retailer, independent testing laboratory, marijuana research facility, marijuana transporter, or any type of license marijuana-related business, except a medical marijuana treatment center” as agreed by the state Cannabis Control Commission.
Planning and Zoning board representatives, as well as selectmen, urged residents to attend the open meetings and hearings that will be held to discuss the possible zoning bylaw options.
