The Cannabis Control Commission on Thursday voted to approve a retail store at 170 Commercial Street, Provincetown. The store still needs to be inspected by cannabis regulators and receive a certificate to commence operations, a process that can take weeks.
“Cultivating wellness is our mission, and we’re excited to become a part of this important community, where we expect to create over 30 jobs and get involved with many of the local charities and initiatives that are important to the Outer Cape,” Curaleaf Massachusetts President Patrik Jonsson said in a statement.
The first retail marijuana store on the islands opened in August, after the Green Lady received approval for its 7,300-square-foot facility from the Cannabis Control Commission.
Headquartered in Wakefield, Curaleaf opened its first Massachusetts recreational marijuana retail store in Oxford in Nov. 2019. A medical marijuana store is open in Hanover and another retail store is planned for Ware in 2020.
The cannabis company, one of the largest in the U.S., employs 65 people in Wakefield and 145 people in other locations.
