While Curaleaf is the first recreational pot shop to open on the Cape, it probably won’t be the last. Provincetown has signed host community agreements with six other recreational marijuana businesses in town, although none have made it through the red tape at the state level.
Triple M in Mashpee, the lone medical dispensary on Cape Cod, also has plans to open a recreational store, and there are applications pending for recreational cannabis establishments in Brewster, Eastham, Wellfleet and Truro.
Curaleaf will be open seven days a week, and hours during the winter and early spring will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The shop will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the summer.
It’s unclear what the demand could look like when the tourists and part-timers come back to the Cape tip, and the Licensing Board asked the business to come back in June to see how things are going.
