We’re reaching out to ask you to speak in support of our bill, S2030, An Act establishing a jail and prison construction moratorium, at a hearing next week. This hearing is an opportunity for you to speak directly to legislators about the importance of pausing prison and jail construction.
- Hearing: Tuesday, July 20th, 10:30am-1:30pm (may go later)Register now with the state to speak at the hearing. You must register by TODAY, Friday, July 16th, at 3pm fill it out even if you aren’t sure you’ll testify.
AND fill out our own form to help us keep track of people testifying.
This bill will pause all prison and jail construction for 5 years, giving Massachusetts time to invest in real alternatives to incarceration and preventing the DOC’s plan to build a new women’s prison. We need you to tell legislators why we need to put the brakes on new construction.
You don’t have to be an expert on incarceration to speak out against it.
