DIVERSITY LACKING IN MASS. MARIJUANA INDUSTRY
Employees of Massachusetts marijuana businesses with provisional licenses are not a particularly diverse group.
According to stats released by the cannabis commission this week, 66 percent of the employees who have either completed or submitted a request for a required background check to work in the adult-use industry are men, and 78 percent are white.
Every company seeking licensure from the commission is required to file a diversity plan; we’ll see if these numbers improve over time as a result. See pages 10 and 11 of the following CCC report for details.
